In August 2024, SSGITS, maninagar conducted a Science activity for 5th standard in which the students "Explored Different Types of Houses through Model Making"
They learnt about different kinds of houses, including:
1. Kaccha House: Made from natural materials like mud, straw, and thatch, found in rural areas.
2. Pucca House: Built with bricks, cement, and steel, common in urban areas.
3. Stilt House: Elevated on stilts to protect from floods and waterlogging.
4. Igloo: Made from snow and ice, found in polar regions.
5. Buildings: Apartments, skyscrapers, and other urban structures.
Students created models of these houses using various materials like clay, paper, cardboard, and popsicle sticks. They learned about the characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of each type of house.
- Students understood the diversity of houses and their adaptations to different environments.
- Developed their problem-solving skills through model making.
- Improved their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
- Encouraged teamwork and collaboration among group members.
- Fostered creativity and imagination.
By making models of different types of houses, students gained a deeper understanding of the various structures and materials used in building them. This activity helped students appreciate the diversity of houses around us and the importance of adaptation to environment.
