Janmashtami Celebration 2024

Krishna Janmashtami, also known as Krishnashtami, is observed on the Ashtami Tithi, the eighth day of the dark half or Krishna Paksha of the month of Shravan. Birthday of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of God Vishnu, is celebrated worldwide with sheer enthusiasm.

 

On 23 August, 2024, the students and teachers of "Shri Swaminarayan Gadi International Techno School" came together to celebrate the joyous occasion of Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna with excitement and enthusiasm.

 

The celebration began with worshipping Lord Krishna by offering garland and makhan-mishri bhog by Mr. Jimish Gandhi (Principal, SSGITS Maninagar)and our little Radha Krishna, followed by an assembly presented by the teachers, which included prayer, devotional song, and speech depicting the life journey and teachings of Lord Krishna.

 

The spirit of Janmashtami filled the air as students of Pre primary and primary section donned traditional costumes and brought the enchanting tales of Krishna and Radha to life with their colourful attires, dance , drama and matkifod. They also felicitated Principal Sir and Vice Principal Ma'am with a "Mor Pankh" wrist band.

 

The highlight of the celebration was the traditional Matki Fod ceremony which took place as inter-house competition among the students of 5-12, where clay pot filled with toffees was suspended from a height, and the students had to work together to break it open. The excitement was palpable as the students of each house formed a human pyramid and tried to reach the pot. Finally, with a collective effort, they succeeded in breaking it open, and the sweets were distributed among the students, adding to the joy and festivity of the occasion.

 

The celebration concluded with the announcement of the winners of the Matki Fod competition, and the traditional dance "Garba" which added to the merriment of the occasion.

 

The Janmashtami celebration at SSGITS was a memorable event that brought together the students, teachers, and other staff members in a joyous and festive atmosphere. The event showcased the enthusiasm of our students and reinforced the values of teamwork and discipline. We look forward to many more such celebrations in the future!
